How many vacuoles does a plant cell have?

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

Well all mature plants have at least 1 Major/Central Vacuole but among most plants that varies

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Animal cells have more than , correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

more than one*

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

Vacuoles? ...... No animals dont even have does

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess I am correct then :)

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

There is no set number of vacuoles in animal cells. There can be very few or very many depending on the type of cell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at least 1 central vacuole

OpenStudy (anonymous):

animal cells DON'T HAVE VACUOLES, as stated before. I dunno where you got that picture, but a vacuole would have no purpose in an animal cell. the main purpose of the vacuole is to maintain correct turgor of the cell. there is no such task in animal cells. we got compartiments of all sorts, that's right. but none is a vacuole. plants mostly do have 1 main vauole, but even this can depend on the type of cells, as there are cells with multiple vacuoles. but 1 is usually the right answer
