Can someone give me a simple easy to understand definition of density?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

denisty is the amount of mass in a given volume of a substance. density=mass/volume \[\rho=m/v\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically it is how much of something in a space. you can think of it like how much things there are in a room. the more things the more compacted and the more dense it is.

OpenStudy (hoblos):

example: if density of a substance = 2kg/m^3 => in each m^3 of this substance there is 2Kg mass

OpenStudy (anonymous):

understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH! that makes a lot more sense now, thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) your welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mitosuki dude help me with my english plz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

density is mass per unit volume .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pelaskil, ok

you assume 1kg of iron and 1kg wool. what is the volume of iron ? what is the volume of wool ? are they same ? \[\rightarrow\] every things have a density . \[\rho\] = m/v
