I have to make a video on an element( The element i got was tin) for my Chemistry class , and i was wondering if any of you had some creative ideas of how I could go about it. ( I thought about doing something from the Wizard Of Oz with the Tin man) Thanks

Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz could be creative- he could kind of explain the properties and history of tin...or Tin Tin could also work (and might be interesting considering the new movie coming out soon!) Another place you can look for ideas is the Chemical Heritage Foundation- they had a contest last year challenging students to create videos of elements. You can find the videos here- might give you some fun ideas! http://www.chemheritage.org/discover/chemistry-in-history/its-elemental/index.aspx

Tin has the most stable isotopes (10) of any element. It is one of the 7 metals known to the ancients (the others being gold, mercury, copper, silver, iron, and lead. Since there were also 7 heavenly bodies known, not surprisingly there used to be an association: gold with the Sun, silver with the Moon, copper with Venus, iron with Mars, tin with Jupiter, and lead with Saturn. At one point, alchemists felt that "rays" from each of these bodies acted on plain earth to transform it into the various metals, e.g. tin was formed by earth by the action of "rays" from Saturn. Tin is one of the few elements to have a symbol (Sn) related to its Latin name (stannum). Tin cans have never actually been made of tin.
