solve the linear inequality. 6(x+10)-15<45+10(2+x) pit solution set in set builder notation and interval notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

expand both sides (multiply brackets out), and i will give next step :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x+45<65+10x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then put x's on 1 side and numbers on the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4x<20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isolate x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<-5,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is it x>-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sets are define with brackets; how i learned it; (these brackets) represent open interval; and [these brackets] represent closed interval. since x is less than -5, we can say that x \[\in\] (inf, -5) infinity is always in an open bracket since it is not a number an can not be included. -5, in this case is in an open bracket because it is not included in the set.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, correction : \[x \in (-5, \inf)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you write it in set builder notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6(x+10)-15 < 45+10(2+x) 6x+60-15 < 45+20+10x 6x+45 < 65+10x 4x < 20 X < 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x < 5 , the notation is either (-inf. 5) or ]-inf, 5[

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great thank you

medalssssss.. .??
