Can someone help me with these 20 questions? If I get them correct I can jump this class... And I really need to jump a class.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

wouldnt jumping a class put you into a harder class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct description of the graph of the inequality -x less than or greater than 3.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

If you can do them, then you should jump the class. If you can't do them, then you should stay in this class. So asking us to help you 'jump' this class doesn't actually help you at all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D:> Well, I can't do them. But, I prefer not taking long in a class. Since, I need to finish Algebra 1 before Jan 15 and I still need one more semester and this class.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

itd be better to see what concepts you can apply to these questions and we can help you sand off any rough edges

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0^0

hero (hero):

lol

hero (hero):

is that zero to the zero power?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know overall how to answer the question. I think it's inequalities.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-x <> 3 is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, -x < 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but, it has an underscore below the ">"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first of all, PLEASE STOP CRYING, for god sake

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the underscore is an "equals" notation

OpenStudy (amistre64):

<= or even </ works in a pinch

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D:> Okay so then \[-x \le 3\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

"Choose the correct description of the graph ..." seeing how we dont have the graph, its kinda pointless for us to answer anything that resembles a sensible answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know... The best I can give you is this. Multichoce. A)Open circle on 3, shading to the left. jump B)Closed circle on 3, shading to the left. C)Open circle on -3, shading to the right. D)Closed circle on -3, shading to the right.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the = part is a closed circle; the rest is remembering to flip the sign when multiplying to dividing by a negative number: -x <= 3 ; means x >= -3, so yes. D looks good for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct description of the graph of the inequality x - 8 < 5x. Answer A)Closed circle on -2, shading to the right. B)Open circle on -2, shading to the right. C)Open circle on -2, shading to the left. D)Closed circle on -2, shading to the left. I'm guessing this is B?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

can you provide some steps as to why you would choose b? something a bit more concrete than a guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you said >= is a closed circle and that one isn't a >= and since the sign was pointing "<" to the right. Open circle, -2 and to the right. I

OpenStudy (amistre64):

open circle is good; one way to decide between b or c is to pick a number that is clearly in one of them and try it out. 0 is to the right of -2 correct?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or rather, try x=0 and see if its a true statement

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1323712311852:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No! Because -2 is less and 0 is actually a number! So, it'll be to the left.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

think this thru again. does x=0 make a true statment? x-8 < 5x 0-8 < 5(0) -8 < 0 ; true or false?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

... False?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know, I think it's to the right.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you do not know by now if negative 8 is less than 0 , you definantly do not need to jump this class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-8 is less than 0.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good, then we need to include the zero; shade goes to the right of -2 and B fits
