Give an algebraic example of the Reflexive Property.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As an example, 2=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is a Reflective Property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's sort of an equal thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any number = same number

OpenStudy (mathmate):

They don't have to be exactly equal, as long as it works with the same element, for example, aRb defined as a>=b then since a>=a is in the set => aRb is a reflexive relation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's much more complicated though :)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

This way of looking at things will make reflexive relations more general, but not necessarily more complicated. All we have to do is to see if aRa is in the solution set for all a in the domain.

what about 11+a=a+11
