I'd like to submit that idea to the OCW community: what about a location where all the members could post their solution and get it reviewed by others ? Does it already exist ? If not, what would be the best place in your opinion ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes there is, you can post your code that you writ to http://codepad.org/ and then they will give you a link to post inside here and the others (programing Gods) will look over your code and give tips and suggestions on your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would be cool is a place to put all the links, so people don't have to spend hours searching for them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That would be very cool..

I think places like codepad, pastebin etc have an expiry date for pasted code. One idea would be to create a git repo and start pasting solutions, and maybe .txt file with FAQ. Or something like a forum, but I really don't know much about this, and I think that OS serves it purpose well of almost real-time interaction. Something we can work on, I think. Problem with OS, I think, is that we can't create "fixed" questions for FAQ, like Python setup, which version to use, further readings etc.

I'm not sure if that would be a good idea for this particular course. It makes people lazy and just look for the answers. Part of the learning process is having to search for it. I like that you ask questions here and people give you hints, forcing you to think it through while still guiding you. And you learn a lot of useful things while searching, which you might not need now, but really help you get a solid feel for things. That said, I'm not against answers, seeing as I post my versions on my blog. But it's really interesting to see how other people approach things, which would probably not happen if there are already answers posted. ps- if you sign in to pastebin, you can choose the expiry date.

Hmm, yes. I am quite aware of that, but it's also good so you can compare implementations and see some other bug that you didn't catch yet. I don't know really, I think this course won't give University credits, and no one is forced to complete it. If a person has an inclination to copy answers for something that he/she chose to do, he/she would find the answer nevertheless. Anyway, the only major point I think is that I really find the lack of FAQ disturbing (Star Wars reference intended :-D). Also, I proposed an irc-channel a while back, but now I am not really sure whether or not it's needed.
