What is a good algebra book from basics to advanced algebra?
For review study?
Whats review study? I need to learn all algebra to understand physics, right? I have basic knowledge of it right now.
You could took the OCW course from MIT: Linear Algebra. They use a very good book: Introduction to Linear Algebra by Serge Lang.
I loved that course, actually because of it I got to know OpenStudy.
Ohh. I made a mistake. I didn't see that you wrote Algebra. Sorry.
Im in sweden..
Heh, Linear Algebra is a bit different =P
Whats that?
It's a more general Algebra.
Ah
I can't think of any good texts on algebra. But you definitely want a solid understanding of algebra for physics. More advanced topics in physics will need calculus.
A good book for Algebra is: "College Algebra" by "Sullivan"
Yeah, Algebra it's essential
How old are you?
14, please dont take that into account! I want to become a physicist.
If your interested in the content and not so much just a specific book than khanacademy.org is a great website with mini-lectures dealing with all parts of math and other subjects as well (physics included)
Well you need to be a good mathematician first.
And if i need calc, algebra, trigonometry, ill have to do that.
I know, TB but do they really cover all of it?
You can read "Lectures on physics" by Richard Feymman. You'll love it.
as far as I've seen they cover everything you'd ever want to know and then some
khanacademy is very thorough.
Everything i need for equations in physics?
I'd say so, they have a huge section just devoted to physics as well as all the algebra, geometry, calculus, and they have a bunch of problems that they work out and explain how to reach the solutions.
Each of the videos is about 10 minutes long so it wouldn't take to long to watch all of the videos in a particular topic and then you'd have a pretty good idea of what you do know and what you might want to spend more time on.
Thanks!
