how to tell if an equation is a positive y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you set x = 0, and see if the y-value is positive or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a graph or an equation?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

as moneybird said for example the equation y=6x+4 when x=0 we get y=6(0)+4=4 so that is a positive y-intercept for y=3x-2 when x=0 we get y=3(0)-2=-2 so that is a negative y-intercept

OpenStudy (turingtest):

when x=0 for y=2x we get y=2(0)=0 so the y-intercept is 0, neither positive nor negative

got it. thanks
