Well, it depends on your project. For a scientific abstract, you don't need to worry about it sounding pretty or flowery, like you would an english essay. You just need the facts about your experiment. Were you given a word length?

I'd suggest start off with talking about your thesis, a brief explanation of your methods, and if it was based off of someone else's experiment or theory. It's just a quick summary so that people can see what it's about without going into detail about the results or methodology.

Ok, then you really want to be economical with your use of language. So just talk about what your experiment set out to prove, and mention if you do anything new to a method to change this experiment from a previous one done.
