How do I put in the vertex form this equation? Y=x^2 -6X+8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=x^2-6x+8\] first coordiante of the vertex is \[-\frac{b}{2a}=-\frac{-6}{2\times1}=3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

second coordinate is what you get when you replace x by 3, namely \[y=3^2-6\times 3+8=9-18+8=-9+8=-1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so since vertex is \[(3,-1)\] vertex form is \[y=(x-3)^2-1\]

Thank you satellite
