How to set up Access as multiuser?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Put the database into a shared folder on a network PC or server. Then multiple clients can link to the shared folder and open the database simultaneously. Best practice is to split the database into a front end and back end with tables in the back end and everything else (forms, reports, queries, macros, modules) in the front end. Put the back end into the shared network folder and a copy of the front end onto each client machine. Link the front end on the clients to the single back end in the shared folder using the Linked Table Manager and a UNC path to the back end.

Good answer. I guess nobody is going to suggest going with a "safer" alternative? I've seen so many instances of database corruption, lost data, etc when trying to split/share Access databases. It's been a few years, perhaps Access is more stable now. Here is a good article on how to do it: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/about-sharing-an-access-database-on-a-network-mdb-HP005240860.aspx
