If the answer describes the same line, then there are infinite solutions. If the answer results in parallel but distinct lines, there are no solutions.

If you think about it as the lines representing where the equation is true, it becomes more obvious. Parallel lines will never cross in Euclidean geometry so the equations will never be simultaneously true.
