After the almighty myininaya and I help someone out with some math problem, I send out a testimonial to the person about how impressed I was about her enthusiasm to learn due to her response while we helped (actually myininaya did all the work, I made a mistake at some point :P) and advised her if to help others when she could and visit more often... this is what she had to say :)

Always means excitement for me ;)

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

did you study web development on your own or it was part of your computer science course?

myininaya (myininaya):

That is sweet that you think I'm a goddess. :)

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

Please don't belittle yourself to the level of a goddess... you have much more integrity to uphold ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is fantastic, thanks for sharing, Saso!!!

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

you're welcome :)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Pretty much all web development knowledge I have, I gained outside of a class. This should not be confused with gaining it “on my own”: I used blogs, forums, searches, Stack Overflow, peers, and any number of other ways to get to other people in order to gain the knowledge I have now. I stand on the shoulders of countless giants :)

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

I see, at the moment I'm also studying web development on my own by any means possible but i'm not sure if web development is discussed in the major i want to pursue; CS ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great story :D and about web development go to various uni pages and find out which one does it and apply to that one

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

If you want my advice, don't go to college to learn web development. Web development is a skill you can develop on your own. A Computer Science degree is about things that underly all development, particularly theory about computers and programming. It's a lot more mathematical than something that teaches you web development, but will teach you great ways to approach algorithmic problems which, while rare, can make or break a project.

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

I was thinking about that yesterday... i guess i'm going in for the CS degree, but that's a year away to start, i'll make much use of the time until then :) thanks a lot for sharing experience
