Solve the compound inequality 9 + 3n > 3 or 5n < 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can think of the < and > signs the same way you would think of = signs and treat the equation the same. The only difference comes in when you divide by a negative, then you would "flip" the sign. But in these cases you wouldn't need to.

myininaya (myininaya):

\[9+3n>3\] \[3n>3-9 \] \[3n>-6\] \[n> \frac{-6}{3}\] \[n>-2\] --------------- \[5n<30 =>n <6\] Now graph these on a number line. ************* n<6 -----|-----|----- -2 6 ************** ----|-----|----- n>-2 Notice you don't have and in btw so we aren't looking for the intersection. We are looking for when we have 1 or both. So what do you conclude the answer is?
