OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=1/9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i suppose to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Put the other 3y on the other side and subtract to get what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10y 3y ----?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes and you should end up with 7y=9+6y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and then do i subtract 7y and 6y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and then you have what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is 1y=9 so then it equals 1/9? right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You got it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANKS!! :D

No Problem

@SOSAlgebra5510: Small mistake in the final part: 10y = 3y + 9 + 6y = 9 + 6y + 3y (put the y factors together) = 9 + 9y (add the y's) 10y - 9y = 9 + 9y - 9y (subtract 9y from both sides) y = 9
