Umm help with factoring out denominators in rational expressions please :( I also need to solve it but mostly i just need help with factoring the denominator 3y + 2 / 2y^2 - y -10 + 8 / 2y^2 - 7y + 5

For the first denominator, we find the factors of the first term are {1, 2} and those of the last are {+/- 1, 2, 5, 10}. After pairing them up, we can create -1 by using 2 * 2 and 1 * -5, so it factors to (2y - 5)(y + 2). Following the same process for the second denominator, we find it factors to (2y - 5)(y - 1). Can you go from here?

Yes thank you very much, I didn't realize you could just do (2y...)(y...) I thought it had to be perfect squares like I tried multiplying everything in the denominator by 2 (the coefficient of 'A') and then I got (2y...)(2y...) but I got stuck. You've helped me greatly thanks

its just plain factoring (2y+5)(y-2) (2y+7)(y-2) these are the the factored denominators
