is urine analysis sufficient enough to diagnose diseases? what other information or tests would be useful to know?

nope. depends on the disease. it's part of a combination of tests.

there are some diseases in which urine analysis will almost suffice on its own:
excessive proteinuria is not healthy, period - called nephrotic syndrome.
nephritic syndrome - which is a glomerular inflammation - will be characterized by rbc in the urine and proteinuria (to a lesser extent).
tubular necrosis - by casts of rbcs.
24 hours collections of solutes will yield - calciuria, phosphturia, etc.

nitrites in the urine - is an evidence to urea reducing bacteria in the urine - and thus implicates urinary tract infection

there are some disease in which u must have a blood test - to test for the excretions from the kidney related to the plasma. excessive soduim (salt ) is OK, unless u have low levels in the plasma (for example) - therefore the excretion is inappropriate. just as an example.

according to the disease...some of'em will require only a urine test others require urine tests & blood tests and the usual check ups on the kidney & liver functions ...and some disease require scans ..
