Darek collected 2 specimens A and B from rocky shore and studied them Cells of A Cells of B CellWall + - Large central vacuole + - Chloroplasts + - Mitochondria + +++ Proteins - +++ Storedcarbohydrate starch glycogen What conclusions about the properties of the properties of the organisms could Derek draw for A and B. Give evidences from the table to support your conclusions.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Okay, think about the properties you are given, one contains starch but no protiens. It also has chloroplasts, a large vacuole and a cell wall - these properties point towards a type of cell/organism (I'll give you a clue: http://waynesword.palomar.edu/lmexer1a.htm -have a read of the properties :) The other one has no cell wall and no chloroplasts but does have mitochondria, proteins and glycogen.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Annne, I was leaving it for amstro to work out :)

Oops, sooooooorrrrrrrrrry! *deletes the comment*

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Lol, don't worry Annne, easy mistake to make :) and thanks for deleting it!

Cells of A Cells of B CellWall + - only plants have a cell wall. A is a plant. B is not a plant. Large central vacuole + - only plants have a large and central vacuole. B is not a plant. Chloroplasts + - only plants have chloroplast (not all). B is/is not a plant. Mitochondria + +++ The more mitochondria, the more active the cell is Proteins - +++ Storedcarbohydrate starch glycogen plants store carbohydrates in the starch while animals store carbohydrates as glycogen. A is a plant. B is an animal.
