Physics 14 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the name of this symbol, the unit, and the definition? Θ (and no,that is not theta)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can't just ask that of an arbitrary symbol, we use them all more than oncee... What's the context?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have seen it used in thermodynamics used to denote standard it doesn't have a physical meaning or unit there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's used in physics for mechanics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you be any more specific? Do you have a particular problem or formula where it's being used?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, my homework is a list of symbols (that one included) and it says "what is the name for this symbol, the unit, and the definition?" that's all I'm given. It is a physics problem under the unit of mechanics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would assume it means angle, but the symbol used is generally theta.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is Theta. (Θ = Capital Theta while θ = Lowercase Theta)

If this homework assignment is from a textbook, browse to front matter (the stuff before chapter 1) and look for a "List of Symbols," "Nomenclature," "Table of Symbols," etc, etc.
