why dont we see auroras on the moon

OpenStudy (ggrree):

auroras happen because of the magnetic field of the earth causing light from the sun to be redirected to the poles. The light there excites certain molecules in the atmosphere there. I'm guessing the moon doesn't have a magnetic field, and I'm pretty sure the moon doesn't have any real atmosphere.
