Assume that product codes are formed from the letters W, Q, T, Y, U, and R, and consist of 5 not necessarily distinct letters arranged one after the other. For example WWTWY. How many different product codes contain exactly one Q?___________ I know that the total possible codes is 7,776. Can anyone help solve?

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

you should think of all the ways that one Q and limitless Ws, Ts, Ys, Us, and Rs could be arranged. Order does matter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im still confused on how to arrange them

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

well... there are 5 spots. The Q can go in 4 different places, and the remaning three can be filled by any of the other letters.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 4 plus 5x5x3?
