100 people who were surveyed and asked the question: "Is fuchsia kinda pink, or purply?" Of them, 60 believe that fuchsia is "kinda pink" and 27 believe it is both "kinda pink," and also "purply." Another 17 think that fuchsia is neither "kinda pink" nor "purply." How many of those 100 people believe that fuchsia is "purply"?
more like Magenta.
|dw:1327378133274:dw| Unfortunately the question is not very clear. "60 believe that fuchsia is "kinda pink" and 27 believe it is both "kinda pink," and also "purply."" to me means 60 and 27 are independent, i.e. 60 for fuchsia ONLY, and 27 for BOTH fuchsia and purply. However, this interpretation ends up wth a population of over 100 (60+27+17)=104 > 100 which is not possible. So I take the next best interpretation of 60 believe it's pink, OF WHICH 27 think it's both. Can you then calculate the number of people for "purply only" and also for purply only and purply and pink?
