3. x = –4y + 4 2x + 8y = 8 a. one b. two c. infinite d. none
What does the question ask for?
how many solutions does the system have
Ok so starting off in a general form, do you know how or what ways you can solve a system of equations?
No
Ok well there are a few ways, two common ones. Let's skip that though, for now. What do you know about a line? Let's say y=mx+b.
I don't know any of this it's my first time doing it and my teacher didn't explainmuch because we didnt have enough time
Ok. Well I don't want to give like a whole lesson, but y=mx+b is the equation of a line. With m being the slope and b being a y-intercept on a graph. Anyway, for a system to have a solution, there first has to be two different equations. If you rearrange and maybe simplify those two equations are they different?
More specifically, the equations don't need to be different to have a solution. They need to be different to have a set solution...
