Actually, monomer refers simply to any simple molecule which, together with ones very much like it, make up more complex molecules. That's true of nucleic acids made up of individual nucleotides. But it is also very true of proteins which are made up of individual peptides. In practice, its also often true of carbohydrate molecules where enormous polysacchardies are made of monosaccharides. So the correct answer is actually nucleic acids, proteins and possibly carbohydrates (although that term also refers to the monosaccharide monomers) too.
