the surface tension of which of the following liquid is maximum? a)H20 b)C6H6 c)CH3OH d)C2H5OH
I guess is H20
yea i too but on phyics can we apply chemistry by seeing str. we can ay or here it is another concept??
i guess H20 have two hydrogen bonds. so, it should have the highest surface tension
uhmm one more correct me if i m wrong surface tension means large surface area rit so by seeing str. we can say H2O is having max. surface tension
No, surface tension has to do with the polarity of the molecules. H2O is polar, and so the molecules at the surface are being pulled together by electrostatic forces. I don't think the other molecules on the list are polar (or at least as polar).
ok so we will consider here polarity.. ok thnx
That's my best guess at least. I'm a little rusty in chem, so I'm assuming the other molecules are not as polar. Welcome!
hey i dont need a guess.. ok just tell me the one abu definition i told abu surface tension is it rit or wrong??
had a look at my new ques plz..
At 20C in mN/m Surface Tension of Water: 72.80 Surface Tension of Benzene: 28.88 Surface Tension of Methanol: 22.70 Surface Tension of Ethanol: 22.10
how u calculate the ST of water??
u learned theses values??
During the course of Solid state physics I taught them. and remember them. If want to calculate them then you have to perform experiments. These are experimental values. And different on different temperatures.
If you want to calculate surface tension. then may be i could help you. Now.
ah.. not intersted in physics just doing my hw :) so i was thinking why dats y i asked thnx
hmmmm....... well jesa ap chahen madam.
lolz.. no madam plz.. better cal me kirti or heena
ok heena. sorry. may i ask you something if you don't mind. please.
ok now there are two buble of diff. radii .the exces presure outside to inside is?? a)more in big drop b)more in small drop c)equal in both d)there is no excess pressure inside the drops
yea sure say?
let me analyze the situation. wait
ok i got the answer. From the concept of Buoyant force. Bigger area receive more pressure then small. so a) is correct.
ans is B now find the reason
do you know the formula of pressure? it is P=F/A less area receive more pressure. more area receive less pressure.
Yeah I know. I made mistake up there. Therefore i used formula here. kindly correct. it is supposed to be b).
now it is clear to you? heena or kirti.
oh yes so easy dumbo me nevr use mind well anyway thx...
my pleasure.
