I think arthritis is just plain joint disease.

Osteoarthritis is one type of arthritis. The prefix "osteo" refers to involvement of bones as well as connective tissue in the affected joints, whereas other types of arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune arthritis, etc) do not.

Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis, and i believe it is the most common type of arthritis
just to add on to osteoarthritis, that it is mostly when the cartilage is weaken, tear or damage, will result in osteoarthritis

-itis- means inflammation
so it is always an inflammation of something
