3/4x+2/3x=48/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9/12x+8/12x=6 17/12x=6 x=72/17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kind of an awkward number :S mixed fraction: 4 4/17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct answer was 6?!?!? This one puzzles me! lol

hero (hero):

I was about to post the correct solution.

hero (hero):

I can't believe you actually thought that a mixed number was the solution.

hero (hero):

There aren't even any mixed numbers to begin with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is a similar one - 6/5x+2/10x=28/10

hero (hero):

Okay, let me solve it first please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

hero (hero):

Word of advice, try to post sentences and math equations on SEPARATE lines

hero (hero):

Just to confirm, is 6x/5 negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6/5x+2/10x=28/10=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see ur point on sep lines - thanks!

hero (hero):

There you go...You see what I mean? See how easily you can confuse someone?

hero (hero):

6/5x+2/10x=28/10 12x/10 + 2/10 = 28/10 14x/10 = 28/10 14x/10 - 28/10 = 0 (14x - 28)/10 = 0 14x - 28 = 0 14x = 28 x = 28/14 x = 2

hero (hero):

Try x = 2 and see what happens.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero, how did you get 6 on the first question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BINGO, Hero!!!

hero (hero):

I didn't. I hadn't finished solving it before jus gave the answer.

hero (hero):

But I can still post the solution to that if you want @ 14yamaka

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please!

hero (hero):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is another one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm probably completely misunderstanding the question lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x-9=15+11x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x=-24 x=-4

hero (hero):

I'm still trying to figure out the first one.

hero (hero):

3/4x+2/3x=48/8 3x/4 + 2x/3 = 6 9x/12 + 8x/12 = 6 17x/12 = 6/1 17x = 72 x = 72/17 That's what I got which means jus may have posted it wrong.

hero (hero):

Jus, from now on, when posting fractional equations, use equation editor or the drawing function because you don't know how to post fractions linearly, sorry buddy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good advice XD it's hard for anybody to post it though lol

hero (hero):

In equation editor, type frac{a}{b} to post fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

new to this - sorry. Dont even know all of the tools yet

hero (hero):

For example, to post 6/5x+2/10x=28/10, do this: \[\frac{6x}{5} + \frac{2x}{10} = \frac{28}{10}\] This is exactly what you type to get that: frac{6x}{5} + frac{2x}{10} = frac{28}{10} or if you want to type this: \[\frac{6}{5}x + \frac{2}{10}x = \frac{28}{10}\] you type: frac{6}{5}x + frac{2}{10}x = frac{28}{10} Get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, hero!! Appreciate the help. :oP
