How to label equations.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

To label an equation as (1) say, just add \\(tag\){1} at the end of the equation. You can put anything between the curly braces '{}' and they will be used to label that equation. e.g.: \\([\)y=ax^2+bx+c\\(tag\){a}\\(]\) will produce:\[y=ax^2+bx+c\tag{a}\] Notice the label is automatically right-aligned and enclosed within round braces.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\begin{enumerate} \item one item \item another item \end{enumerate}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that doesn't work now does it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

enumerate doesn't work here because it's here just for math stuff, but not for writing articles

OpenStudy (mr.math):

That I have always wanted to know. Thanks naseer! \[x^2+x-3=0 \tag{1}\]
