-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-7-2<x+2-2<4-2 -9<x<2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so since the middle 2 was a pos i added to to the -7 and sub from the ps 4 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, what we try to do here is to leave the "X" alone, if it has a number added to it, we subtract, if it's divided, we multiply, and apply any operation to the other sides in the inquality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so my next on is x+8<3 and x9>-4 so i am thinking my answer is -5<x<5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+8-8<3-8 x<-5 but what about the second part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you would subtract the -4 from 9 to get x<5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was written x9>-4, not x+9>-4, x9 means x multiplied by 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i c thats what confusses me so what do i multiply the x with the 9 or the 9 and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for this case, x9>-4, we divide x9 by 9 to get x, and divide the other part of the inequality by 9, so we get x>(-4/9) PS: we usually write 9x, not x9
