We can use subsstitution by substituting for b^2 after first expanding the first equation:
\[100+b ^{2}= 64+16a+a ^{2}\]\[100 +(36 +a ^{2})=64+16a+a ^{2}\]\[100+36+a ^{2}=64+16a+a ^{2}\]136=64+16a
16a=62
a=62/16=31/8
substitute for a and then solve for b.
