Simplify (t2+6t)/(t-1)- (7)/(t-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(8t-7)/t-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain this to me please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t2 = 2t ya, so 2t+6t=8t then 8t/t-1 - 7/t-1 have the same denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no t2 = t^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o sorry, ((x-7)(x+1))/(t-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, luke, I think you switched the signs. I'm getting ((t + 7) (t - 1))/(t-1) which simplifies down to t+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your right, i had -6t , damn!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Be careful with your language, please! But, yea, those signs can be tricky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya , just brushing up on my algebra, studying finite element methods now for structural design ..
