just the answer? 36?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to figure this out we should find a common divisor. to do this, we should multiply the left fraction by 1 in the form of the divisor of the right fraction and the right fraction by 1 in the form of the divisor of the left fraction. Sounds wordy but its like this:
\[\frac{12}{12}\times\frac{7}{9}-\frac{9}{9}\times\frac{5}{12}\]after this we have everything in terms of the same base, and we can write it like this: \[\frac{84-45}{108}=\frac{39}{108}\]which reduces down to 13/36
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah it's the lowest number that is divisible b both 18 and 12
OpenStudy (ragingsquirrel):
haha... i knew junkie was typing up something big
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It's what I do :)

it just says evaluate using the correct order of operations
OpenStudy (ragingsquirrel):
order of operations can be abbreviated PEMDAs. In 5th grade i didnt think it would help that much, but it did.
