-12^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 144, is it this or -144?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 144 (-12)x(-12) two negitives = a positive number

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[(-12)^2=144\] \[-(12^2)=-144\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's just -12^2 no ()'s at all.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

brackets are there whether you can see them or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah thank you so it's -144

OpenStudy (anonymous):

was that the problem? 32+16/2^4+2^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry it was suppose to be a new problem, I hit the wrong thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just remember -12^2 means -12 x -12 which is positive (+) 144. Two negitive numbers multiplied OR divided together will give you a positive answer
