Help. Use the commutative property to finish the equation: 5x + (-3y) = A. 3y + (-5x) B. -3y + 5x C. 2xy D. -15xy

B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean B!

The answer is b because you cannot combine different variables. The -3y doesn't change, and neither does the 5x, and as long as you keep the signs the same, then you can move them any where you want

The way I remember commutative property is like the numbers commuting (traveling) around.
