Question

I am teaching interrogative pronouns and "when" is not included in the list. What part of speech is it and why isn't it an interrogative pronoun?

It's an interrogative adverb, as are "why,"where," and "how." The interrogative pronouns are "who," "whose," "whom" (if anyone even uses that one anymore), and "which."

Like, like! It's a good word. I've sort of given up on it though. I don't think it's coming back in a big way anytime soon. Though it does linger. :)
