can someone show me step by step on how to solve this?: 3x^+21x-54 divided by: x^2+3x-54

3x^ ? Please check your question.

3x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you simplify, which gives you 3(x-2)/x-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so take the numerator and denominator one by one: x^2+3x-54 We factorize it and we get: (x+9)(x-6) And then the numerator: 3x^2+21x -54: 3(x+9)(x-2) Then take the factorized forms in fraction form: 3(x+9)(x-2)/(x+9)(x-6) We see x+9 gets cancelled: So the answer is 3(x-2)/(x-6).
