Do i need a photographic plate to try the double slit experiment?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Young's double slit experiment? No. What's tricky is constructing two genuine, identical uniformly thin slits and making sure no other light enters from the side.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Great experiment to do by the way!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, will it work just by doing it at night with no lights on? I know, its mindblowing..

OpenStudy (jamesj):

btw, why is this in Mathematics? Should be in Physics!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh right!

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Doesn't need to be a night. Young himself used sunlight. What you need to do is make sure no other light enters in from the sides, as that will make the fringe pattern hard to see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Im kind of doubting that it will work!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean i see no logic in it, but thats what makes quantum mechanics interesting.
