For 2 points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2), the slope is calculated by:
$$m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}$$
Make sure you're consistent with which point you pick first and also with the signs of the coordinates.

slope is just a measure of how far something is leaning .... mathikers define slope in a consistent manner in order to be able to work with it as a number

its the ratio formed by the change in height over the change in width; y/x

the formula is nice; but you still have to do the steps of subtracting the points and stacking y/x
