what is the difference of speed and velocity ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

velocity is speed with a direction

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Speed is a scalar quantity, Velocity is a vector.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah...actually speed never indicates the direction but veocity does!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please give me example ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

velocity starts with a V while speed with S . simple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

car move at 90 km/hours. this velocity or speed ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is speed "sri mulyani" the value you said above never indicates the direction so it is simply the speed .... velocity i would say is a concept just with the books ... practically we use just speed... velocity is a paper work on a cartesian plane..as simple as that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Speed Is A Scalar Quantity Where It Has Only Magnitude But No Direction Where as Velocity is A Vector Quantity Having Both Magnitude and Direction... That is The Difference Betrwwn Them!!
