Its an impulsive noise that superimposes your signal when it is being transmitted. It may be due to atmosphere(natural) or man-made or even extraterrestrial. Noise is basically an undesirable signal. One can imagine a sine wave with spikes all over it. Those spikes are noises.

Noise is nothing but the voltage level that can be either negative or positive which either add up to the PROCESSING signal by increasing the over all voltage or subtract  the PROCESSING signal by reducing the effective voltage. So noise is always in the form of voltage.

Noise is nothing but the intensity of the waves and the energy at which the waves are released from a source we can simply define it as a source of different intensity waves according to me
