y lies in quadrant 1. tan(y) = 11/60
Good. x lies in quadrant 3 tan x = 1
Are you trying to find y or what is your question?
I'm trying to find y
Tangent is y value over x value I think you are looking for the angle value
So pick up your calculator, divide 11 by 60 and push the inverse tangent button.
also, if you want to know the number of degrees (make sure you are in degree mode) otherwise the solution given is radians. Double check with you teacher if they wan the radian or degree solution. I would put down both solutions to make sure your answer is in quadrant 1. Do not forget about your coterminal angles, they will also, be in quadrant 1. example 30 degrees and 390 degrees are the same because they both end in quadrant 1 and therefore are coterminal angles.
