Modern Physics - What’s the difference between a glowing solid and a blackbody? What difference does it make when you are analyzing the emitted radiation/energy? I understand what a black body is but I don't think I fully understand the definition of a 'glowing solid' and can't find it online. Thanks

I can only imagine that it's meant literally - a piece of solid material that is glowing due to it being hot. IANAP, but I'd imagine the difference would be that a black body radiation is emission *only* due to the body's temperature (black bodies are hypothetical ideal bodies that absorb all irradiance), whereas a glowing solid would also reflect radiation from other bodies, and how much would be determined by its shape and composition. So, I guess in the case of measuring a glowing solid, you'd always partially measure reflected radiation in addition to the radiation emitted by the body itself.
