Let a and b equal angle 1 and 2 respecitvely. Solve the following for a and b:\[\left\{a=\frac{b}{2}-9,a+b=180\right\}\]\[a=54{}^{\circ},b=126{}^{\circ} \]

How did you get 54?
they used substitution since a = (b/2)-9 (b/2)-9 +b = 180 3b/2 = 189 3b = 378 b = 126 a = 180 - 126 = 54
