in second law of motion 's' is distance or displacement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

newtonian law ?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

This law? \[ s = ut + \frac{1}{2}at^2 \] or \[ s = s_0 + v_0t + \frac{1}{2}at^2 \] Here, \( s \) is displacement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

s represents displacement but can some times be considered to be used as distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

relation that you want isn't law it's a equation of motion

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes, technically what I've written isn't a Law of Motion, but just an equation of motion. In the three Newtonian Laws, there is no variable "s", that's why I went to one of the kinematic equations of motion instead.
