anyone want to possibly help me on complex roots?? I don't understand it and I have a test over the homework tomorrow.
w@s the p ?
p means problem
it says state the number of complex roots, the possible number of real roots, and the possible rational roots for \[x ^{3}+4x ^{2}+5x-1=0\]

Thanks.
yh, yr welcome
To help you prepare for your test, you might want to know that the possible rational roots are the factors of the constant term divided by the factors of the coefficient of the leading term. In your example, both of those numbers are 1 so the only possible rational roots are positive and negative 1.
typically you would use synthetic division to see if either of those possibilities is actually a root.
Do you understand so far?
or if you so prefer, use cubic equation
yes
