DNA and RNA are the same thing except that RNA is a copy of the DNA. Its like buying a music CD and instead of using the original you make a copy so the original one want get damaged. As for the cell cycle are you talking about mitosis?

DNA/RNA are definitely not the same thing.  Yes, RNA can be viewed as a molecule that is copied from DNA, but their basic composition and their purposes are definitely different.  I know it's not fair of me to say something is wrong without giving the correct answer, but this would be such a length answer that I simply don't have the time right now.  I just don't want HelpNeeded to get misinformed.

Yea this is a lengthy answer.. there are plenty of online explanations with photos.. here is the cell cycle one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_cycle as far as DNA and RNA.. think of RNA as the molecule that carries out many different functions in organisms.. sometimes it carries messages all over the body..sometimes it is a catalyst for biochemical reactions ETC... DNA on the other hand is the foundation from which all information carried by RNAs for example come from. It is simply a long sequence that encodes all information to execute many different processes in the body but does not actually execute these functions itself.. what executes the functions that DNA encodes are RNAs and other epigenetic interactive molecules.
