how do you put y=x*squred*+ 3x-4 to standard form?

OpenStudy (phi):

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadratic_function#Forms_of_a_quadratic_function It is in standard form. btw, you can write it as y= x^2 +3x -4 (use the uparrow to show an exponent)

apparently not to my teacher? he says that is in gen form?

OpenStudy (phi):

Looks like a dumb argument about definitions. In this case, general form means vertex form (according to Wikipedia) to find general form, you can complete the square.
