What would the inequality be for a graph the has a solid line with shading below? The line goes through the points (0,-3)(1,-2)(2,-1) etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please help! It is urgent!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is a picture of the graph

OpenStudy (radar):

O.K the graph has a line whose equation is y=x-3 (from inspection) Did you get that far?)

OpenStudy (radar):

Note that the shaded portions are below the line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (radar):

It seems to me that shaded portion means: y-x <-3 but let me think about it some more. I believe that is correct. Make some test and see if that is true by locating points in the shaded area and plug in the x and y value into that equation and see if it is true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (radar):

I have checked and it seems that is the inequality that is graphed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are a life saver lol

OpenStudy (radar):

good luck with these things
