I assume then you are trying to find the surface area of a cylinder, cube, cone, sphere, or some other geometric object. We have formulas that we can use to find the surface area....which do you want to know?

rectangle prisms/ cubes/ triangular prisms

you will need to add the lateral area which is the area of the faces and the area of the base for the prisms... the area of the cubes will be the area of one face times 6.
